Bowfishing in Texas

Postby Olivier » Thu Oct 16, 2014 9:44 am

Hi all,
I just wanted to share some pictures of my first bow fishing experience in the US.
It's very popular in the US, a lot of shooting and a lot of fun.
Night time on air boat.
If you go one day in South Texas I strongly recommend this guy:

I see a lot of people are sceptical in SA about bow fishing, the thing is that you can target specific species (unlike other fishing methods)and help in alien species reduction.

Sorry guys, I don't understand Afrikaans.

Well done.
Yes we also do it here, but there are a few legal issues in most of the provinces.
Because we have no laws regarding bowfishing in some provences, it is regarded the same as spearfishing, which is illegal in freshwater and estuaries. And for the sea, you need a spearfishing license.
In the Eastern Cape we obtain a special permit to do it. And we only target alien species.
