Valley Classic Bowfishing Competition

Postby Guardian » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:22 pm

Well we did have our bowfishing competition, but you guys probably heard about the floods in the Cape Province.
That cold front hit us in Kirkwood on Friday evening and after all our preparations and getting the permit for the competition, we had to persevere.
The whole of Saturday was overcast and cool and few fish rose.
Despite the difficult conditions a few fish were shot. Some carp were also shot, but either came loose or something else happened and none were landed.
All fish landed were Tilapia(kurper) and MANY were missed, mainly because of inexperiance.
We still had a very good time and the spirit was very high
T-shirt and caps were given to all participants.
O, yes, and Nature Conservation did send a man to check what we were doing. We showed him around, gave him a cap and T-shirt and also showed him some gill nets we've taken out the river.
He promised us a 6months bowfishing permit next year !! :D

Theedge, yes my buddy, you've shown me how a man can sleep through the night in only a thin poncho upright in a chair under the flap of a bakkie canopy.....and snores
I felt so sorry for you the next morning when it started raining again and a big man like you actually got cold.
Hopefully the weather will be better next time and we'll nail more fish !!
regards,
Dirk
