Replacement Cam urgently needed

Postby Egbie Compion » Tue Jun 13, 2017 8:59 am

Hi Guys

I am urgently looking for a replacement cam (Bottom Cam) for a Bowtech Equalizer 2006. My daughter and I are going hunting on the 23rd and I realized with a shock yesterday that her bottom Cam had somehow gotten damaged.

If any of you perhaps have a cam lying around, I would be so grateful if you can please contact me asap. Below are photos of the rigth and left side of the cam.

You can please contact me on 083 78two 2six44.

Many thanks

Hi Mr Ballistic

Redge and the guys have been trying to find me one, but so far no luck. Their shipment from Bowtech is unfortunately already on the water, and they are saying it will be much to expensive to ship it on its own. Also there are timeline issues, as our hunt is a week and a half away.

Redge normally gears around good service. If you had to place the order for the cams is there not a loan unit he can let you use for the weekend?

Hi Egbie

If I may ask, what happened to the cam and is it in such a state that it wont hold up for the hunt?

Just curious to see what it looks like.

It looks a lot like the allegiance cams, if it can be a replacement, I am willing to take off my Allegiance cams and lend it to you for the hunt. They are 27.5" DL

Hi Bernhardt

Unfortunately it is one of those situations where one would rather not take the chance.
Here is what I noticed first.
Image

If this was all, it might have still been okay, but when I turned it on its side, that's when I got really scared.
Image

I don't know how long it has been like this, but I do know that we have been extremely fortunate thus far that it hasn't torn completely through that thin piece left over on the side.

I have managed to borrow a bow for her from a friend and Redge and the guys helped me set the draw weight and length for her, but you know what it is like to start with a new bow, and to get everything set up just right for you.

Worst is she was just starting to gain real confidence in her ability to group consistently at various distances with her own bow.

If we cannot find a new cam, (its sounds like that may be a possibility) as it is a 2006 model, I am hoping that we might be able to tic weld the tear in the cam, in order to save the bow. (Cant really afford to buy another one.) I am just not sure what the effect of added weight on one side of the cam is going to have on vibration etc.

Thank you for the offer Bernhardt, I am not sure whether they will work.
We will see how it goes with the new bow first, it is slightly heavier than her own, but I hope that will not influence her form too much.

The nice thing is most of us will master something in a shorter time if we have some pressure. She has the pressure now, I believe she will be ready. It is like riding a bike, a different bike feels different but the basics stay the same.

Must say, she is doing well. New bow has a bit of creep, so she cannot relax as much at full draw, as with her own bow, but she is quickly adapting. Just sneaks up on her sometimes
We have little more than a week left, so I trust she will be ready.
